Best price by denomination (lowest across the selected states)
Best price by state
The lowest price for each state and bill, with the retailer. Each column header shows that bill's gold value (its gold content at today's spot: 1 Goldback = 1/1000 troy oz of 24k gold). The premium is how much more than the gold value you pay. Tap a price to open the product.

Most gold for your money
Each Best price divided by the bill size, so every denomination is compared per 1 Goldback. A lower price per Goldback means more gold per dollar. The highlighted cell is the best-value retailer and bill in each state. Uses the same filters and options as above. Prices per Goldback are shown to a tenth of a cent because the gaps between bills are often under 1¢.

Research notes (Oct 23, 2026 scrape)
- Prices are qty-1 single-note prices seen on each retailer's own page or feed during the scrape. Where a site tiers by payment method, the cash/wire/check price is the default; card prices come from the same page (SD Bullion, APMEX, Hero Bullion, IDC). Defy The Grid uses one price for every payment method. Other sites publish a single price, so the card view shows that listed price (marked †).
- Stale = last updated more than 3 months before today. Stale prices stay visible but are greyed out, unlinked and don't count toward Best price unless you turn that on. "No date" means the retailer shows no update date (JM Bullion, IDC); those prices looked reasonable against gold value.
- TransWorld Metals' 5/10/25/50 prices are at or below gold value and probably out of date (their sitemap date is exactly the 3-month cutoff). The research notes flag TransWorld and US Gold Bureau (Wholesale Coins Direct) prices as possibly out of date. Those, plus any price less than 15% above gold value, are badged and don't count toward Best price by default.
- Metals Mint 25s and 50s are much cheaper per Goldback than its other notes. That is the listed price, but check it before buying. US Gold Bureau (Wholesale Coins Direct) is all stale and out of stock. Silverguyzz prices are eBay listings, so eBay shipping and tax may apply. Shipping is not included anywhere.
- TX = the Dallas–Fort Worth Goldback issue. The ¼ notes are not in the CSV summary, but they are shown here.
